Photoshoot location FAQ's
How much do studios cost?
This will depend on your requirements - editorial shoots can start from as little as £300 for some studios but can rise significantly for higher-end locations. Advertorials and advertising will be more expansive than editorial rates. Some studios will sometimes do lower rates for tests - feel free to check with us! 1st Option have a standard booking fee of £95, or 5% of the fee, whichever is greater. On filming shoots the booking fee will be higher.
How long is a shoot day?
A standard shoot day is from 9am-6pm, sometimes 8am-5pm in winter months to make better use of daylight. It’s usually possible to request to arrive earlier, or to shoot later into the evening, however, this will incur overtime charges. Standard overtime rates are usually charged at 20% of the day rate per hour, more after 9pm. Overtime is at the discretion of the owner, as are weekend shoots, which also carry a higher rate.
Can I set-build at a studio?
Of course, most studio owners are happy to allow set building and can sometimes provide the service too, if needed. Studios will need to be re-instated to their former condition following the shoot. All clients sign a booking form accepting responsibility for any damage done during the execution of their shoot and agree to leave the property in the condition it was prior to arriving. It’s the client’s responsibility to ensure that this is adhered to.
