Photoshoot location FAQ's
How much does a shoot cost?
This will depend on your requirements - editorial shoots can start from as little as £400 for some properties but can rise significantly for higher-end locations. Advertorials and advertising will be more expansive than editorial rates and filming shoots even more, depending on the size of the crew and the amount of disruption to the owner. 1st Option have a standard booking fee of £95, or 5% of the fee, whichever is greater. On filming shoots the booking fee will be higher.
How long is a shoot day?
A standard shoot day is from 9am-6pm, sometimes 8am-5pm in winter months to make better use of daylight. It’s usually possible to request to arrive earlier, or to shoot later into the evening, however, this will incur overtime charges. Standard overtime rates are usually charged at 20% of the day rate per hour, more after 9pm. Overtime is at the discretion of the owner, as are weekend shoots, which also carry a higher rate.
Can I decorate the property?
Most owners are happy to allow decorating at their property, provided it is re-instated to their complete satisfaction following the shoot. All clients sign a booking form prior to their shoot accepting responsibility for any damage that might be done during the execution of their shoot. Some owners actually prefer the clients decoration changes and are happy to keep them afterwards, although in our experience this is quite rare!
Any locations outside London?
We have a large selection of locations outside the M25 and spread around the rest of the country, including beach houses, country manors and farms. We also have a selection of properties abroad. Have a look at the search filters on the main landing page on the site to help you to narrow down your search. We have a large off-line library too, so if you can’t see what you’re looking for on the website just give us a call!
