Photoshoot locations with antique furniture

Everything bought for a home, whether it be general furniture, rugs, artwork or even lighting, is plotted onto a timeline based on when it was made. After this, it is affixed with a label based on that manufacturing date. For example antique, vintage, retro, contemporary etc. Other elements that go into the piece's label are its condition, quality, and relative rarity. By labeling the age of an item, it also gives us a clue into socioeconomic trends and popular fashion at the time.

Antique furniture

According to the dictionary definition, an antique is ‘a relic or object of ancient times’ or ‘a work of art, piece of furniture, or decorative object made at an earlier period and according to various customs laws, at least 100 years ago.’ Most antique dealers would agree with this definition and many would say that if the piece is not definitively datable to 100 or more years, then it can’t be sold as an antique.

Antiques are to be seen in a similar way to an original painting, they are rare and therefore investments. They should serve as an accent to the rest of your home and not as everyday furniture. When mixed with other styles, they can give fantastic depth and faded grandeur to your home.
