Owned by a photographer and based in East London, Steel is a cool and chic warehouse conversion that has a modern industrial feel, with steel beams and concrete floors throughout. Converting warehouse spaces can often be challenging, with probably the biggest hurdle to overcome being making the space feel like a 'home'. Steel has managed to achieve this perfectly, with the overall feeling throughout the space being of warmth. Although none of the character of the building's previous incarnation has been lost, this property still gives off the vibe of being a really spacious and comfortable space.

As you walk in, you're greeted with concrete floors and ceilings, complemented with original brick walls. Because the brickwork is traditional red, instead of making the space feel cold these have exactly the opposite effect, helping to spread a warm glow throughout, which is accented even further when sunlight streams though the large critical windows and huge skylight, casting fascinating shadows throughout. The feeling of warmth is highlighted further with clever use of colour, such as the deep orange seating and the tasteful dark wood furnishings and fittings, complimented by the subtle addition of mid century furniture. The hob and appliances are in stainless steel, giving an appropriate nod to industrialism.

The kitchen is ultra-modern and minimalist, with dark wood units and black work surfaces and surrounds, accented with plants. From the lounge and dining area, wooden steps lead you up to a full-length glass wall, which folds back to take you through to the bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a beautiful sunken bath, again in a minimalist style and separated by a brick divider which features a fireplace that heats both sides.

As warehouse properties go, Steel is one of the best and well done conversions you're likely to find. The style and use of colour is quite unique and instead of the usual 'rough' look associated with these types of conversions, Steel has a distinct feeling of being 'expensively' done. For clients, you'll be blessed with superb shooting opportunities in every direction and will be able to get a huge variety of interesting shots.
