Introducing Ludwig, a 1500 sq ft end-of-terrace Edwardian home in West London. This mid-century modern space is architecturally designed with a whimsical blend of retro and state-of-the-art interiors.
Ludwig welcomes you into a seamless open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. In the lounge, bespoke joinery in warm American cherry wood sets the tone for this stylish, retro-inspired space. A suede, seventies-style sofa pairs effortlessly with two sculptural Tank chairs, all grounded by a bold orange rug and softened by sheer floor-to-ceiling curtains that span the wall. Overhead, a pendant light hangs from an intricate ceiling rose, adding a touch of elegance. The stainless steel kitchen, set atop terracotta floor tiles, features red Jasper marble countertops and cream cabinetry. The dining area continues the wood-panelled theme, with built-in cabinetry and banquette seating surrounding a movable wooden table.
The lounge is accessed through wooden double doors leading from the kitchen. Painted in Farrow & Ball’s rich India Yellow, the room features two inviting sofas, a sculptural paper shade, and striking large-scale blue artwork. Period details, including high ceilings, a statement fireplace, sash windows, wooden flooring, and a classic dado rail, add character and charm to the space..
A staircase with leopard-print carpet and custom oak wood handrails leads to the first floor. The first of two children's bedrooms is decorated in a blue hue featuring a hand-painted floral mural on the walls, paired with vintage pieces such as a “princess chair” from vintage design dealer Scene by Chloe, a fireplace with animal figurines, and a desk. The master bedroom suite, located in the loft extension, evokes the mood of a 1970s hotel. Colour-drenched in a moody olive palette, the space features a statement green headboard, plush pink carpets, and a roll-top bath positioned on the left side of the room. Designed to capture the shifting light throughout the day, the room is illuminated by velux windows and ceiling fan lights, enhancing its warm, nostalgic atmosphere.
Throughout this shoot location, bold colours, unique artwork, and a curated mix of vintage and custom furnishings come together to create a space that is anything but ordinary. At Ludwig, you enter a vibrant labyrinth of retro influences and modern maximalism - where every room tells a story, and no detail is left to chance. Designed by its interior-designer owner, this home is a celebration of fearless colour, clever craftsmanship, and striking individuality. Curious? Get in touch to find out more.
