Introducing Sorbet, a recently renovated, architect-designed family home in Peckham. Inspired in part by Frank Gehry’s Santa Monica House, the property blends period features with a contemporary layout, using exposed easi-joists to filter natural light into its spaces. With a blend of soft, bright pastel tones and playful material choices, including reclaimed timber, each room is filled with character.
Set on wooden flooring, you are welcomed into a spacious living room, styled with warmth, pops of colour and wooden accents. A pastel pink tiled fireplace is centred in the room, sitting beneath bright orange artwork. Playful decor includes family picture frames, plenty of books and a dollhouse. Bespoke shelving adds creative depth to the room, continuing the warm pastel theme.
This space leads into a light-filled kitchen and dining area, set on Staffordshire reclaimed brick flooring. With a family-friendly feel, the kitchen is arranged as a simple run of mint coloured units along the side return wall. Forming a dining area, a warm, hand crafted L-bench sits beneath the first-floor outrigger.
Sorbet also features two brightly-coloured bathrooms and three bedrooms, including a primary bedroom with a queen size bed, a children's room with built-in bunk beds, and a baby's room with a cot and single bed.
The kitchen/dining area flows into an open seating area/play space, with an arts-and-craft corner. Two lounge chairs face glass sliding doors that connect directly to the garden, where reclaimed bricks continue to pave the space. Here you’ll find an outdoor dining area, decorated with plants and framed by sophisticated dark tones.
With a polished structure and the feel of a relatable family home, Sorbet’s spaces offer a flexible canvas for a variety of projects.
